hooded mergansers

My initial title… “ducks”. Cornell Lab’s Merlin app suggested Red-necked Grebe, which didn’t seem right. Submitted a photo ID request to the highly regarded @sparky_stensaas app. It’s one of the best, but turn around times can feel like your message made a seasonal migration… Must be in a migratory midpoint, cuz minutes later I got the reply, “Hooded mergansers (note thinner bill and slight crest)”. Too bad it’s not in the App Store😉
