put the camera down... now!

That's a close up of the "put the camera down... now" look.  I did, right after I took this :-)

bus stop boogie

A slow start had the girls running the last block to catch the bus.

meltdown

For it to look anything like spring, we're gonna need a major meltdown.

tune in

It's been over a decade since its last tune, but Dennis Berryhill taught our old Baldwin to sing again.

kindle reader

The perfect birthday gift for my little reader... thanks Grandma :-)

abominable snowman - photographed!

"almost" straight from Wikipedia...

"The abominable snowman is said to be an ape-like crytid taller than an average human, similar to Bigfoot, that inhabits the northern region of Minnesota and Wisconsin..."

He's actually much more docile than his name suggests.  Kind of likes us actually... still hangin' out in the front yard.

cold feet

Cold feet... not around here.

happy birthday Isabel

The birthday girl goes big for breakfast with a "Texas" doughnut.

smells like mommy

"Isabel why are you wearing Mom's robe?"  "Cause it smells like Mommy."

piano practice

Piano practice with a twist.... can you sit like that?!

Jeremy & Sibby

Thankfully my brother was kind enough not to ask me to photograph his wedding.  While I love taking photos, a wedding photographer I am not.  What I did do however was setup an automated photo booth.  With the camera on a sturdy tripod, I set a timer to trip the camera and lights every two seconds...  For nearly 5 hours.  When the dust settled I had over 7000 photos.

The resulting video captures lots friends and family celebrating two wonderful people.

Congratulations Jeremy & Sibby!

who let the dogs out?

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon spans 373 miles from Duluth to the Canadian border, and back.  10 marathon teams started today, with another 30 competing in the mid distance race.  Lack of snow which cancelled last years race, and delayed this years, wasn't a problem today, but temps in the 30's isn't ideal for running dogs.

Either way, fun to watch the athletes (2 and 4 legged) tackle old man winter.

friday night lights

Friday night, Mom's home from NY, and dinner was a leftover, snack, cereal, DIY smorgasbord. With nowhere to be, and nothing to prepare for, Friday night feels just right.

hangover

The girls were off school last week.  They slept in, had friends over, snowboarded and partied at Uncle Jeremy's wedding.  Problem is,  it's Wednesday, and they still seem hung over. ~ CRANKY ~

dear diary

Isabel's diary... It's a plastic case, with a password protected locking cover that has voice recognition software. The amazing thing is even though I know the password, it knows I'm not Isabel, and won't open... Crazy the technology that has become part of your everyday.

another one...

Another one from the hill today.

ps.  There was an open house at the new Spirit Mountain Chalet today.  In addition to a beautiful new building, there was hot chocolate, cookies, hot dogs and best of all... FACE PAINTING! Isabel went with a heart, Grace, a mustache???

snow bunny

Sun and temps in the mid 30's kept the "dad, my toes are cold," to a minimum today.

flower girls

My brother got married this weekend.... to someone so right, that try as I might, imagine it no other way.

Congratulations Jeremy & Sibby!

a year in pictures ~ 2012

Some of my favorite images from 2012 ~ enjoy :-)

ps. If you're interested in doing something like this yourself, take a look at Animoto. It makes it easy... Simply upload your photos, choose the music and template,  click produce and Animoto does the rest ~ automatically.

recital

That Steinway sure looks massive next to little Isabel.  Didn't seem to faze her though... she did a fantastic job.

bunny hillers no more

This shot is from February 2010. Back then they were bunny hill Betties, but now they're riding chair lifts, linking turns and getting down largely flail free.  Improving yes, X-Games material... nope.

forte

Isabel was killin' it tonight!  Well... maybe she looks better here than she sounds, but either way, Isabel is wired for music, and with the help of her rather amazing piano teacher, one day she'll kill it for real :-)

ps.  "forte" describes music played in a loud or forceful manner, in other words, "killin' it".

smarty pants

Grace and Isabel got some really great report cards last week...  Lots to smile about.

cold noses

Two cold noses, that are about to get colder. Teens today, -20°F forecasted for tomorrow.

Stay warm.

one more

"Please Dad, one more chapter?"

bedtime story

The bedtime story has a different feel lately... Isabel has decided that reading to herself, or in this case Clarke, is fun (the first chapter was actually aloud, but apparently Clarke wasn't listening, so she read chapter two to herself :-) ).

cold enough for ya?

-20 on Tuesday, and possibly colder tonight... Bundle up.

accumulating snow

Welcome words for the northland. Finally some snow to cover the streets of icy grime... and a cute pony tail.

blustery bus stop

Isabel tries to keep the snow out and the heat in.
