Female merganser hanging on to a shrinking sliver of the Long Praire River. While they’re only partial migrants, this one seems particularly reluctant with several inches of ice on area lakes and many rivers. ~ The frozen edge made eye level shooting easy, but a couple hours prone on ice made for shaky shooting.
